Career
The MSc programme Forest and Nature Conservation is intended for students who seek a career as an academic professional or as a scientist. Graduates find jobs at many different organizations. Among the professional job possibilities are experts at research institutes such as Alterra, TNO and universities or at FAO, (Dutch) ministries (LNV, VROM, VWS en V&W), Staatsbosbeheer (State Forestry Service) and local authorities. In the private sector graduates find jobs at engineer- and consultancy bodies, like Oranjewoud or financial institutes.

Babs Stuiver is trainee at the Swedish Forest Institute. She graduated in specialization Ecology and did an intenship in Sweden.

Koen de Rijck is working for WWF in Bulgaria and Romania as an expert on High Nature Value farmland. Influencing policy at ministerial level and making studies is alternating with capacity building activities for stakeholders in the countryside and sharing our experience abroad.

Nickie did a PhD at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam after her MSc studies. Now she is working at research institute Alterra. She is intrigued about the different ways in which nature affects people.

Chris did a PhD in Switzerland, was postdoc in Spain and came back to the Netherlands as researcher at the University of Groningen. All the research was about his favourite topic: vegetation dynamics.

One year after graduating, Dieter van den Broeck (31) is a knowledge broker in the Baviaanskloof in South Africa. Meanwhile, his classmate Marco Visser (27) is generating new knowledge on Barro Colorado Island in Panama.
